eLodgement – Supreme and District Courts

To electronically file an affirmed or sworn document, it must be sent to the registrar as an imaged document in the approved Portable Document Format (PDF), preferably text searchable. Refer to Approval 1 of 2024   (PDF, 190.0 KB).

The original affirmed or sworn document must be retained for 7 years from the date of filing. The party or solicitor filing the document must produce the paper form of the document if required by the court during that timeframe.

Prescribed information from an affirmed or sworn or affirmed document can, in some cases, be electronically submitted to the registrar instead of filing the document or an imaged copy of it. The registrar must acknowledge receipt of the information.

From 30 June 2025, solicitors with a Queensland practising certificate will be able to lodge civil claims and supporting documents in the Brisbane Supreme Court through the Queensland Courts and Tribunals Online Services Portal.

Self-represented litigants can refer to procedural fact sheets for civil proceedings and lodge their claim at the registry or via post.

In 2026 eLodgement of all civil originating processes and appeals state-wide, for all court users (including self-represented litigants), will follow as part of the new civil case management system release.
