Bulk lodgement

Bulk lodgement involves filing multiple court documents for processing at one time, including claims, judgments and applications.

Legal firms, financial institutions and debt collection agencies will often use this method of lodging documents because it can often be quicker and more efficient than other methods.

Registries aim to process bulk lodgements within seven business days, though this may be longer depending on the registry workload.

You will receive a phone call when your documents are ready for collection.

Where you can lodge

You can perform bulk lodgements at most, but not all, Queensland Magistrates Courts. Contact your local registry to enquire.

Additionally, the number of documents required to fulfil a bulk lodgement may vary at each Magistrates Court registry, so ask about their procedure.

Bulk lodgement process

  1. Phone the Magistrates Court registry about whether the service is available, the number of documents required for bulk lodgement and the estimated processing time.
  2. Deliver the documents to the registry.
  3. Wait for the registry to advise you that your bulk lodgement is complete and the total filing fee amount.
  4. Pay the filing fees and collect the documents.

Fees

Filing fees

The filing fees are as prescribed by the Uniform Civil Procedure (Fees) Regulation 2010.

You need to pay a fee when processing is completed and/or you collect the documents.

You can pay by cash, credit card (no American Express) or cheque. Make cheques payable to ‘The Department of Justice and Attorney-General’.

Delivery charges

If your documents are returned by post or courier, you’re responsible for the delivery charges.

Send a self-addressed prepaid envelope large enough to include all your documents (A4 is recommended) or arrange for a courier to collect the documents.

If documents are incorrect

If the documents you lodge are incorrect, they’ll be returned to you with an explanatory letter or notice.
