What is procedural assistance?

Procedural assistance is advice about court processes. For example, the Court can provide assistance about:

- how to start a case;

- what form to use;

- the process a case may follow;

- procedures to help you resolve the case without a decision;

- what happens at hearings and other court events.

The Court offers self-represented parties procedural assistance before, during, and after a hearing. If you would like procedural assistance, you can:

- search this website;

- book a procedural assistance interview ;

- contact the Land Court Registry ; or if you are in court, ask the member hearing the case.

However, the Court cannot give legal advice. In contrast to procedural assistance, legal advice is advice about the substance of a case. For example, the Court cannot give you advice about:

- what evidence to lead;

- what arguments to make; or your prospects of success.
