You can apply online to search and copy Court of Appeal documents and exhibits.
These applications are subject to relevant laws, your role in the proceeding (party or non-party), and whether the appeal is currently before the court.
Applications are processed in the order received. If your request is urgent, you can email the registrar with details after submitting your application.
Fees apply for non-parties and for copying documents.
Application process
1. Prepare your information
To apply, you’ll need the following details:
- file number
- appellant or party name(s)
- exact details of the documents you want.
If you don’t have this information, contact the courthouse or conduct a party search for civil files in the Supreme or District Court.
2. Complete the online form

Parties to current appeals may also request material from the associated primary court file.
If you have a court order to access a file, upload a copy with your application.
3. Processing time
Requests are prioritised in the order received and may take up to seven business days.
If urgent, email the registrar after submitting your form, detailing the reasons for urgency.
Please note - if fees apply, your application won’t be processed until you’ve paid them.
4. Receiving your copies
Copies can be sent via email or post, or you’ll be notified when they’re ready for collection.

Exemptions
Criminal document fees are not payable by the:
- Attorney-General
- Director of Public Prosecutions
- Legal Aid Queensland lawyers.
