Report court security incidents

If there’s a crime happening or someone is in immediate danger, you should act straight away. Notify security or court staff, call 000 (Triple Zero), or use your duress alarm.

Reporting security incidents is important because it helps keep courts safe for everyone, including staff and visitors.

How do I report a security incident?

For public court users:

Report any security incidents to a security officer or a court staff member immediately.

For court staff, security officers, and partner agency/organisation staff:

  • You must report the incident as soon as possible to a manager, the registrar, local security staff, or the Queensland Police Service.
  • An Incident Report Form must be completed within 24 hours of the incident.
  • Only one Incident Report Form should be submitted for each security incident.

Who completes the Incident Report Form?

  • If security personnel responded to or resolved the incident, they must complete and submit the form.
  • If security personnel were not involved, the registrar or manager of the person primarily involved in the incident must complete and submit the form.

The report will be sent to the Court Security Manager and the relevant Regional Director, Director, or senior manager for review and any necessary follow-up actions.

If someone is injured

If the incident caused physical or psychological harm to someone, you must also complete a Salvus work health & safety incident report.

If property is damaged
