Queensland’s courts and tribunals are courts of record.

Most proceedings are recorded, and written transcripts may be produced.

You can request transcripts or audio recordings through:

  • an online platform called QTranscripts
  • a manual request form (if you cannot use the online platform).

Fees may apply.

Online request (QTranscripts)

QTranscripts is the online platform for requesting, tracking, and receiving court or tribunal transcripts or audio recordings.

To submit a request:

  1. Go to QTranscripts
  2. Select ‘Log In’.
  3. Select ‘Continue with Digital Identity’. If you don’t have a digital ID, follow the prompts to create one. About digital IDs
  4. Once logged in, follow the prompts to request your transcript or audio recording.

Key options

If one of these scenarios applies to you, the system may offer you the option when making your request:

You’re a party to the proceeding and experiencing financial hardship and want a fee waiver

‘Financial hardship’

You’re a victim of a personal offence and thus eligible for a free transcript or recording

You’re a family member of a deceased person in a Coroners or Industrial Magistrates Court proceeding and thus eligible for a free transcript or recording

‘Family member of a deceased person’

Tracking and delivery

You can choose from a range of delivery (turnaround) times: same-day, 1, 3, 5, 10, or 20 days. Read more about turnaround times.

You can track your order and communicate with the Department of Justice via the ‘MyActivities’ section of QTranscripts.

The completed order will be sent to you as a secure download link. The link expires after 30 days .

If the pages in QTranscripts are blank, you may not have registered properly. Try again.

2. Submit the completed form

  • At a courthouse, or
  • Mail it to:

Hard copies

If you can’t access the forms online, you can get a hard copy by:

  • Calling 1800 842 122 (Mon–Fri, 8.30am–4.00pm, excluding public holidays), or
  • Visiting a courthouse.

Delivery

Your completed order will be sent to the delivery address you provided in your request form.

Special cases

Child protection matters

Access to records from child protection proceedings is restricted. Records can only be released if:

  • legislation allows it, or
  • a court order directs it.

Closed court matters

Access to records from closed courts (e.g. Childrens Court or domestic and family violence matters) may require ministerial or chief executive approval.
