Free or reduced-cost transcripts or recordings
Some people may be eligible for a free or reduced-cost transcript or audio recording.
If one of the following scenarios applies to you, you can ask for a fee waiver or reduction when requesting the transcript or recording:
Financial hardship
If you’re a party to the proceeding and experiencing financial hardship, you may qualify for a full or partial fee waiver for an existing transcript or recording.
Victim of personal offence
If you’re the victim of a personal offence (or their guardian or representative) in a criminal case in the Supreme or District Court, you can request one free copy of an existing transcript or recording.
Family member of deceased person
If you’re a family member of a deceased person and the legal proceeding before the Coroner or Industrial Magistrate relates to their death, you can request one free copy of the transcript or recording.
Cost sharing
Parties in a legal proceeding can agree in advance to share the cost of a transcript or audio recording.
Each party must have a QTranscripts account.
