Requesting an adjournment of a review

The ADR Registrar can adjourn appeals listed for review ‘on the papers’, but only for Planning and Environment Court matters.

If your matter is before another court such as the Supreme Court, District Court or Magistrates Court, you must contact the registry of that court for information on how to adjourn the court date

Before you make a request

Your adjournment request must be received by the Planning and Environment Court registry by 12pm on the business day before it’s listed.

If your request is received later than 12pm, it will not be processed, and the parties will be required to appear at court on the listed review date.

Your request will be considered by the ADR Registrar. If they are busy your request will be forwarded to a judge to determine.

Refer to paragraphs 8 and 9 of Practice Direction 9 of 2023 (PDF, 119.3 KB) to find out how to apply, the information required and the circumstances when an adjournment may be granted.

How to submit a request

If you satisfy the criteria for an adjournment, use the recommended template to request an adjournment (DOCX, 17.3 KB).

If possible, include all the information in the body of the email, rather than an attachment.

Send your request by email to the ADR Registrar at steven.adams@justice.qld.gov.au with the List Manager copied in at dc-pelistmanager@justice.qld.gov.au.

What happens next

The ADR Registrar or List Manager will confirm by email whether the adjournment has been granted. If the request was forwarded to a judge, the judge’s associate will contact you.
