Bulk lodgment allows you to file multiple court documents (such as claims, judgments, and applications) for processing at the same time.
It’s commonly used by legal firms, financial institutions, and debt collection agencies, as it’s the fastest way to process large volumes of documents.
Court registries aim to process bulk lodgments within seven business days, depending on their workload.
When your documents are ready for collection, you’ll be notified by phone or email.
Where you can lodge
You can lodge documents in bulk at most Queensland court registries, including Supreme, District and Magistrates Courts.
The minimum number of documents considered to be a bulk lodgment varies between registries.
Bulk lodgment process
Follow these steps to lodge your documents in bulk:
1. Contact your local court registry to confirm:
- whether bulk lodgment is available at that location
- the minimum number of documents required for bulk lodgment
- the estimated processing time.
2. Prepare you documents and deliver them to the registry.
3. Wait for notification from the registry that:
- your bulk lodgment has been processed
- the total filing fee amount is ready for payment.
4. Pay the filing fee (see ‘Filing fees’ below).
Collect your documents.
Filing fees
You’ll need to pay a filing fee once your bulk lodgment has been processed or when you collect your documents.
To find out the exact amount, see the court fees.
Delivery and collection costs
You’re responsible for all document delivery and collection costs, whether you choose to:
- deliver or collect in person
- use a courier service
- use the postal service.
If documents are incorrect
If any of the documents you lodge are incorrect, the registry will return them to you along with an explanatory letter or notice.
You’ll need to correct the errors and re-lodge the documents.
