Claiming for conveyancing, burial or cremation

If you’re an undertaker service provider, such as a funeral home, with a standing offer arrangement (SOA) with the Queensland Government, you can claim costs for:

  • Conveyancing services: Transporting deceased persons for coronial investigations.
  • Burial or cremation: Providing burials or cremations for deceased persons whose families cannot or will not pay.

All claims must be submitted through the service provider portal.

Conveyancing services

Under the Coroners Act 2003, conveyancing services involve transporting deceased persons to facilities for coronial investigations.

These services are directed by coroners or police and delivered by providers with an SOA.

The SOA sets the fees and conditions for these services.

Burial or cremation services

The Burials Assistance Act 1965 ensures deceased persons whose families cannot or will not pay for burial or cremation receive a dignified service.

In these cases, the Queensland Government, through the Department of Justice, engages service providers with an SOA to carry out the arrangements.

Reimbursement claims must follow the SOA rules, including providing the required documents.

Standing offer arrangements

A standing offer arrangement is a pre-approved agreement between the Queensland Government and service providers.

It sets clear terms, including fees and conditions, to ensure services are delivered fairly and consistently.

When to claim

Submit your claim as soon as possible after completing the service. Claims must be submitted within 30 days.
