Execution of civil enforcement warrants

From 18 June 2020, the execution of civil enforcement warrants by bailiffs and/or enforcement officers will resume. The embargo was introduced on 18 March 2020 in response to COVID-19.

Registries may allocate enforcement warrants to bailiffs and enforcement officers before 18 June, but no steps will be taken by the bailiffs and/or enforcement officers until 18 June 2020.

Registries will review any adjourned enforcement hearings to ensure that listings are manageable. For Magistrates Courts only, new enforcement hearings will be listed in accordance with the requirements in Magistrates Court Practice Direction 5 of 2020 (PDF, 811.8 KB) (ensuring social distancing, listing matters at intervals, phone or video appearances where possible etc.).
