Advice and support

Supreme and District Courts - Civil

The Self-represented Litigants Service (SRLS) provides assistance, advice and support to people who are to representing themselves in civil cases in the Brisbane Supreme and District Courts. Inquiries about Magistrates Court matters should be referred to your local courthouse

SRLS staff provide easy to understand information about court processes and help to facilitate the exchange of information between litigants and the court.

SRLS staff help self-represented litigants to:

  • understand court rules and procedures
  • locate forms, legislation and other supporting information
  • access other agencies who may be able provide assistance.

Staff cannot provide legal advice, complete forms or paperwork, or advocate on behalf of litigants.

The service provides a resource room which contains scanning and photocopying equipment, computers with internet access and other useful facilities.

The Self-represented Litigants Service (SRLS) was launched in December 2007 as part of the accessCourts initiative at the Supreme and District Courts in Brisbane.
