Judicial salaries

Under the Judicial Remuneration Act 2007, judicial remuneration is benchmarked against the salary for a Federal Remuneration Tribunal, as set by decisions of that tribunal.

The Australian Government Remuneration Tribunal is an independent statutory authority that has the power to determine the remuneration of judicial and related officers under the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973 (Cwlth).

All tribunal determinations are tabled in parliament and can be disallowed.
