Electronic files (eFiles)
eFiles is a new online service from the Queensland Courts which makes court documents available to all court users 24 hours a day, seven days a week via the Queensland Courts website.
eFiles is currently being trialled in the Planning and Environment Court in Brisbane in the first half of 2009.
Throughout this period all active Planning and Environment Court files originating in Brisbane will be accessible through the Queensland Courts website eCourts facility.
If successful, eFiles will be assessed for implementation in other jurisdictions across the state.
The eFiles Pilot Project is part of the Future Courts Program which is a joint initiative of the Queensland Courts and the Department of Justice and Attorney-General. The program was established to create a modern, innovative and effective courts system for Queensland.
The program is committed to developing relevant and easy to use online services for litigants, their legal representatives and the broader community, and improving registry operations through the more effective use of information, new technology, and process innovation.
