Interstate judgments
Interstate judgments - Magistrates Court
The registration of interstate judgments allows a money order made by another state or territory court to be enforced in Queensland. When the enforcement debtor resides in Queensland, the judgment can be registered in a Queensland court of similar jurisdiction for enforcement purposes.
The order must be able to be enforced by the interstate court (called the court of rendition) as if the enforcement debtor still resided in that state.
There is a fee involved in registering an interstate judgment and this can be checked with your local Magistrates Court.
Once the judgment is registered it can be enforced as if it were a judgment of a Queensland court.
