How do I become a mediator?
If you wish to become a mediator, you will need to make an application to the senior judge administrator in the Supreme Court in Brisbane.
The application must be submitted on Form 29 – Application for approval as a mediator (UCPR).
What do I need to put in the application?
The application should:
- set out (in no more than one page) your relevant qualifications and experience
- describe your qualifications, when obtained and the faculty/institution attended
- supply copies of certificates/awards from relevant courses and any accreditation gained
- indicate your experience in mediation e.g. numbers, locations and/or organisations
- provide any other relevant details such as specialities, legal interests and location preferences for conducting mediations
- stipulate your fees for conducting mediation.
Will it cost me anything?
Fee for approval as a mediator and for approval as a case appraiser - see scale of fees (UCPR). Cheques should be made payable to the registrar of the Supreme Court, Brisbane.

How do I become a case appraiser?
You will need to make an application to the senior judge administrator in the Supreme Court in Brisbane.
The application must be submitted on Form 30 – Application for approval as a case appraiser (UCPR).
What do I need to put in the application?
The application should:
- set out (in no more than one page) your relevant qualifications and experience including date of admission as a barrister or solicitor
- indicate areas of legal expertise or any other particular interests or experience
- provide centres where you will conduct case appraisals
- stipulate your fees for conducting case appraisals.
Will it cost me anything?
Fee for approval as a mediator and for approval as a case appraiser - see scale of fees (UCPR). Cheques should be made payable to the registrar of the Supreme Court, Brisbane.
