Supreme Court registries are located in Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton and Brisbane with additional regional registries throughout Queensland.Documents can be filed in Supreme Court registries between 9:00am and 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public and court holidays), or mailed to the registrar of the Supreme Court in your local area. Once a proceeding is commenced, all further documents must be filed in that registry.
The Brisbane registry is located on the ground floor of the Law Courts Complex, 304 George Street, Brisbane, phone (07) 3247 4313.
District Court registries are located in Brisbane, Rockhampton, Townsville, Cairns, Beenleigh, Ipswich, Maroochydore and Southport. There are a further 25 regional registries throughout Queensland (weblink).
District Court registries are open for general business on weekdays (except public and court holidays) between 9.00am and 4.00pm.
The registry can be opened after hours in cases of urgency but a deputy registrar must be consulted to authorise the opening. An opening fee is incurred when authorisation is given and must be paid at the time of the opening in addition to any filing fee.
