Court of Appeal - My day in court
Can court staff provide me with legal assistance?
Court staff can assist you with general procedural matters relating to your appeal. Staff will help you with:
- filing of court documents
- enquiries about the dates and times for appeal hearings.
Court staff cannot:
- give you legal advice
- make recommendations about your case
- advise you on what to say when you present your case.
Can I use the Supreme Court Library for research purposes?
As a self-represented litigant you can use the Supreme Court Library but you are required to sign the visitors’ book.
Library staff will direct you to where information is located but are not allowed to:
- conduct research for you
- give you legal advice
- recommend what you should do regarding your case.
The library can be found on the fourth floor of the Law Courts Complex and is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5pm except on public and court holidays.

Where can I make enquiries about the appeal hearing?
Enquiries about the Court of Appeal can be made by going to the court registry located on the ground floor of the Law Courts Complex, near the cafeteria.
